Best trax of 2018

4/ Mitski – Nobody

This is the absolute highlight from Mitski’s excellent third album, and despite being about loneliness it was one of our go-to songs to feel happy. It’s glittering disco melodies make having nobody to love feel like some kind of bliss. Be sure to watch the video clip as Mitski turns it into an Alice-in-Wonderland like trip.

3/ Pongo – Tambulaya

Pongo mixed futuristic electro with African dance rhythm’s on this hypnotic party banger. Its eclectic sound ruled the summer and it lingered with us till the end of the year, always handy as a boost to the spirit. We’re sure it will still work for years to come.

2/ Burna Boy ft Lili Allen – Heaven’s Gate

As soon as we heard this song in January it felt like the best song of the year, and it did stay on top until the slow burn of our year’s top pick finally unseated it a few weeks ago. Burna Boy dropped a crushing lesson in everything that makes Afrobeats rule today, and Lily Allen’s wonderfully strange vocal turns just took it beyond the confines of any genre. No party will ever be complete without it from now on.
