Best trax of 2018
Who is the winner of the Noizie for Best Track of last year?
The world continued its inexorable decline towards an ocean of shit last year. In the previous couple of years, the sense of impending catastrophe shook artists into voicing their anger and agitating for change. In 2018, as being angry, or at least concerned, became mainstream you couldn’t even rely on the sentiment to make music interesting any more. Songs like “Shallow” were actually considered brilliant, and the top news was a catfight between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj.
Thankfully, there was still some redeeming good noize to help us make it through. And we have of course sifted the good shit from the bad shit for you.
This year, we finally reached the point we had been anticipating for the past decade: a true global music scene, where sounds come from anywhere in the world and cohabit in new ways. Our list of select tracks is rich with music from all over the planet, with its richest source in Africa. The oldest continent is the place where all the newest sounds are bubbling, and its influence is reverberating everywhere.
On with the show then! Go to the next page for our Top 20 tracks of 2018…
