Mitski – Be The Cowboy
With a perfect blend of songcraft mastery, pop sensibilty and hipster cool, Mitski continues to follow the path to Noize Godness.

Mitski turned heads and wowed critics and noizesters alike with her last album. A dizzyingly-accomplished work for a second album, it melded 1990s-nostalgic indie-guitar rock with pretty melodies and personal lyrics.
It isn’t surprising, given the potential she’s showed, that Mitski latest album is even better. What is impressive, however, is how she has expanded her palette of sounds and influences, and how she weaves them into an infectious whole.
Mitski dives heavily into disco, much like everyone else these pas few years, but she doesn’t abandon her guitar-based sound. Instead she creates a cocktail that also includes her infectious melodies, darkly humorous intelligent storytelling, and left-turns all over the place that make sure you never know what to expect next.
With such a mastery of all elements of perfect pop, we are inclined to bestow upon her our highest praise: she reminds us of Blondie!
