Cornelius – Mellow Waves
Best Album of Autumn 2017
Japanese cut-n-paste hero’s long-awaited comeback is yet another classic

With three albums in 20 years, you can’t call Cornelius prolific. But Keigo Oyamada is actually a very busy man, with many collaborative projects to his name. Returning to his Cornelius moniker, his latest album is nowhere as manic and effervescent as his 1998 classic “Fantasma”. His perfectly-named Mellow Waves turn out to be just as playful and unpredictable though: within each track are unexpected curves, eclectic sounds and strange ideas. Whether you surf them, swim in them or just watch them from a beach, these waves are mesmerizing.
Highlights: “Sometime/Someplace”, “The Spell of A Vanishing Loveliness”, “Dear Future Person”, “If You’re Here”
