Rap exploded in China last year after a reality TV show made it go mainstream. Vava stalled at the semi-final stage, but that didn’t stop her from becoming one of the country’s hottest stars. And while most of the stuff we’ve heard or seen looks like a sino-caricature of black US Hip Hop, this tune from Vava is a fresh chop-suey of groovy beats and Chinese folk music.
