Meg Remy mixes political business with disco pleasures

Meg Remy’s long running project, U.S. Girls, produces pure pop songs that mask the seriousness of her activist subjects. On this track, she is doing pure disco: girlie vocals, saccharine melody, groovy bassline. The lyrics are about trusting someone with your life, and having them disappoint, and deceive you. It is probably about the Obama presidency, and its controversially war-heavy legacy. Like OMD (who are still at it), it is music that you can dance to and think about, and it’s awesome!
